Business Development Associate – Deal Origination

About the role

BizScout, a marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of small businesses, is looking for a Business Development Associate focused on deal origination. You will work from our Austin office, calling small‑business owners to gauge interest in selling and feeding qualified leads into our Private Client advisory team.

Key responsibilities

• Make high‑volume outbound calls to small‑business owners using provided target lists.
• Introduce BizScout’s platform and assess owners’ willingness to discuss a sale.
• Build rapport quickly, handle objections, and capture detailed information on interested owners.
• Seek referrals, network, and identify additional prospects beyond the supplied lists.
• Hand qualified leads to the Head of Private Client and the acquisitions team for further engagement.

Required profile

• Strong work ethic and resilience in a high‑rejection environment.
• Ability to make a large number of calls daily without burning out.
• Comfortable establishing a conversational tone with strangers within seconds.
• Self‑motivated, takes ownership, and thrives without constant supervision.
• Interest in working in a fast‑growing startup environment.
