Building Plans Examiner

About the role

Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services, is seeking a Building Plans Examiner to review construction permit applications and ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code. The role combines office‑based plan review with on‑site inspections, supporting both residential and commercial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Examine building permit applications, including blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals and shop drawings to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code.
• Prepare written and electronic reports, issue notices of correction and maintain all required records.
• Conduct on‑site inspections of residential and commercial buildings to verify code compliance.
• Respond to inquiries from homeowners, contractors, architects and engineers regarding code requirements and review procedures.
• Collaborate with design professionals and county officials to resolve technical code issues.

Required profile

• Licensed General Contractor with at least five years of experience, or a valid Florida Plan Review (PX) or Inspector (BN) license.
• Certification or eligibility for certification as a Building Plans Examiner by the Miami‑Dade and/or Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals.
• In‑depth knowledge of the Florida Building Code and related construction regulations.
• Ability to interpret codes, evaluate project proposals and enforce compliance.
