Building Inspector – Field Based (Kittanning, PA)

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Building Inspector to support municipal clients in Kittanning, PA and surrounding Western Pennsylvania communities. The role is field‑based with a home office, allowing you to work independently while ensuring construction projects meet safety and code requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform residential and light‑commercial building inspections for permitted projects.
• Inspect structural and non‑structural components, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, accessibility, energy, and fire‑protection systems.
• Review work for compliance with approved plans, ICC codes, PA UCC requirements and local regulations.
• Document findings clearly and communicate results to contractors, property owners, municipal staff and internal teams.
• Support permit issuance, inspection approvals, certificates of occupancy and maintain complete inspection records.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Experience in construction, inspections, code compliance or a skilled trade.
• Ability to read construction documents, plans, specifications and permits.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and good judgment.
• Comfort with basic computer tools such as email, Microsoft Word, Excel and inspection software.

Required skills

• ICC certification (e.g., Combination Building Inspector) – preferred.
• Knowledge of PA Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and ICC codes.
• Familiarity with plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire‑protection, accessibility and energy code requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Use of digital inspection forms or inspection software.
