Building Crew Worker – Building Maintenance

About the role

The Building Crew Worker supports the Town of Hanover by keeping public buildings clean, safe, and welcoming. This full‑time, onsite position is ideal for individuals who take pride in visible, hands‑on work and want to contribute to their community.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, restocking soap and paper products.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; dust‑mop tile and carpeted areas.
• Wax floors annually as part of facility maintenance.
• Clean kitchen surfaces, furniture, fixtures, windows, and doors.
• Disinfect high‑touch areas such as door handles and handrails.
• Empty and clean trash receptacles.
• Operate cleaning equipment including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and push sweepers.
• Safely use hand tools and cleaning chemicals while following town safety policies.

Required profile

• Knowledge of town safety policies and procedures.
• Understanding of proper use and handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work respectfully with coworkers and the public.

Required skills

• Operating vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
• Using various hand tools for custodial tasks.
• Applying cleaning chemicals safely and effectively.
