Bookkeeper for Public Library

About the role

The Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library is seeking a detail‑oriented Bookkeeper to manage financial records, reconcile accounts, and support the Finance Manager at its Zionsville branch.

Key responsibilities

• Enter journal entries for payroll, cash receipts, and accounts payable in the accounting software.
• Issue checks, manage credit‑card activity, and reconcile statements.
• Process payroll and benefits, and prepare financial reports for the Board of Trustees.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to the State Board of Accounts and Department of Local Government Finance.
• Coordinate gift, donation, and grant funds, and support bi‑annual audits.

Required profile

• Associate's degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum three years of professional finance experience, preferably in public or non‑profit settings.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑based Microsoft computer systems.
• Experience using Blackbaud Financial Edge Software.
• Electronic bookkeeping and familiarity with payroll preparation.
