Board Operator - WMMS

About the role

iHeartMedia Markets is hiring a Board Operator for its WMMS station in Cleveland, Ohio. The Board Operator provides programming and control-board support to on-air talent, working part-time in a regular position.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the control board for studios and remote programming
• Protect the station's license by censoring live programs and removing words or phrases not permitted on air
• Regulate program timing, run syndicated programming and play commercials
• Monitor the technical quality and accuracy of incoming and outgoing on-air programming from the master control room
• Support off-air commercial production, dub music to hard disk and run programming automation computers
• Execute playlists for server, tape or simulcast programming
• Adjust signal and programming content so transmissions meet federally mandated broadcast standards
• Process time-out programming, monitor and update weather, traffic and news reports into automation equipment, and check studio equipment and notify Engineering of malfunctions
• Screen incoming phone calls and select callers for on-air talent and talk shows
• Handle emergency inserts such as news updates, breaking stories and alert system tests

Required profile

• Flexibility for evenings, overnight and weekends
• Comfort in a fast-paced environment
• Previous experience in a related role
• Ability to work within prescribed guidelines without close supervision, solve problems within established procedures and know when to seek guidance
• Close attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills

• Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
