Benefits Assistant – Pension Administration

About the role

The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) is seeking a Benefits Assistant to support the Pension Entitlements Section in New York. This temporary position provides essential administrative assistance for the calculation, processing, and communication of pension benefits to participants, retirees, and beneficiaries worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Screen, sort, and forward incoming communications to the appropriate team or individual.
• Provide participants and beneficiaries with information on entitlements, validation, restoration, and benefit options.
• Draft routine correspondence and respond to telephone enquiries related to pension matters.
• Conduct research to ensure accurate responses that comply with UNJSPF Regulations and Rules.
• Assist in eligibility determination and enrolment of new entrants.
• Monitor and record status changes such as family history or employment situation.
• Maintain and update pension files from enrolment through separation, ensuring all documentation is complete.
• Initiate administrative actions required by changes in individual status.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with participants and member organizations.
• Attention to detail in handling documentation and data entry.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple inquiries and maintain accurate records.
