Behavioral Health Counselor (Part‑Time) – Georgia DCS

About the role

The Department of Community Supervision seeks compassionate professionals to provide counseling and support to individuals under probation or parole supervision. This part‑time position works directly with clients in Conyers, GA, helping them develop coping skills, access services, and achieve successful community reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling focused on prevention, behavior modification, and substance‑use recovery.
• Act as an advocate to coordinate services such as employment, housing, education, mental‑health care, and life‑skill training.
• Conduct assessments, interviews, observations, and random drug screenings to gather client information.
• Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans, documenting progress toward measurable goals.
• Facilitate substance‑use and cognitive‑behavioral programming; travel may be required for training, court appearances, or group sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or certification as an addiction counselor from the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association (or equivalent).
• Preferred: at least one year of counseling experience, experience facilitating CBT classes, and a professional license such as LPC, CADC/CAC, or LCSW.
