Behavioral Health Counselor 1 – Community Supervision

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Community Supervision is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Counselor 1 to support individuals under parole and probation in Albany, GA. You will provide counseling, advocacy, and crisis intervention to help clients achieve successful community reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel individuals under supervision with an emphasis on prevention and behavior modification.
• Act as an advocate to coordinate services such as employment, housing, education, mental health, and substance‑use treatment.
• Conduct assessments, interviews, observations, and random drug screenings to gather client information.
• Deliver individual and group counseling sessions to develop coping skills and address dependencies.
• Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans and measurable goals.
• Maintain confidentiality of all client records and prepare comprehensive case notes and reports.
• Facilitate substance‑use and cognitive‑behavioral programming based on client needs.
