AWS DevOps Engineer

About the role

Deloitte Technology is looking for an AWS DevOps Engineer to ensure user-visible uptime and quality, with operational and development expertise that makes systems fail rarely and be fixed quickly. The position is open in eight locations: Cincinnati, Hermitage, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Nashville, San Antonio, St. Louis and Tampa.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure user-visible uptime and quality, and provide operational and development expertise so systems fail rarely and are fixed quickly.
• Minimise manual involvement by designing and implementing continuous improvements, including new tools, dynamic monitoring, alerting and automated self-healing and recovery.
• Analyse problems affecting mission-critical services and implement automation to prevent recurrence, aiming to automate responses to all non-exceptional conditions.
• Engage in application performance analysis, system tuning and capacity planning.
• Perform root cause analysis and present analyses and recommendations to leadership, discussing technical merits with engineers and architects.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience with AWS cloud services.
• Experience deep-divising into infrastructure, databases and applications to support high-performance, highly available services.
• Hands-on experience with container technologies (EKS, Kubernetes, Docker) and Kafka.
• Experience building, deploying and monitoring AWS services, including Redis Cache, Service Bus, Event Hub and Cloud Service.
• Knowledge of AWS Compute, Storage and Networking, and of SQL, AWS Relational Databases, RDS and Aurora.
• Familiarity with AI Ops tools such as Claude, AWS DevOps Agent and Copilot.
• Identity and authentication: SSO/federation, AD/Azure AD, AWS Cognito.
• Experience managing Windows and Linux systems in AWS Public Cloud, and knowledge of Cloud Foundation stacks.
• Ability to write PowerShell scripts and use Azure DevOps pipelines and releases, and to develop integration tests and gate criteria aligned with business requirements.
• Strong experience with instrumentation, monitoring, alerting and performance/availability response.
