Autotransfusion Technician – Neuro Expansion

About the role

The Autotransfusion Technician joins the Neurological Institute’s peri‑operative team at Cleveland Clinic’s new state‑of‑the‑art facility. Working weekends, you will support safe, high‑quality patient care by operating blood recovery equipment and handling quality‑control procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Operate blood recovery (cell‑salvage) equipment and perform blood recovery procedures.
• Collect, document, and analyze quality‑control assays for each case.
• Maintain accurate, organized documentation of all procedures and inventory.
• Identify equipment or procedural issues, take corrective action, and communicate findings to physicians and staff.
• Assist in training new team members and participate in in‑service education.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience (minimum one year technical experience; two years may substitute degree).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle stressful situations.
• Willingness to work weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday, 7 am‑5:30 pm).

Required skills

• Operation of cell‑salvage/blood recovery equipment.
• Performance of quality‑control assays and documentation.
• Basic visual acuity for color discrimination and manual dexterity for specimen handling.
