About the role
The Automotive Parts Specialist I supports Texas A&M University Transportation Services by managing the automotive parts inventory, handling part requests, and ensuring smooth operations of the fleet. This onsite position involves both administrative and hands‑on tasks in a dynamic university environment.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, record, store, and issue automotive parts, reconciling invoices with deliveries.
- Maintain inventory using fleet management software, label and organize parts in designated rooms.
- Operate a university vehicle to retrieve or identify parts not deliverable by other means.
- Mount, dismount, and clean bus/truck tires and rims.
- Bill parts to work orders and update order status in the system.
- Answer phone calls, assist walk‑in customers and technicians, and provide parts advice.
- Visually inspect vehicles, process parts request forms, and order parts from vendors via online portals or phone.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of experience in automotive/heavy‑equipment parts, warehouse, or retail stock management.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (or ability to obtain Texas Class C within 30 days).
Required skills
- Proficiency with fleet management software.
