Audit Staff – Entry Level Accountant (Nov 2026)

About the role

Join Withum’s Audit team as part of the November 2026 class and launch your career in public accounting. You will work alongside experienced auditors on financial statement audits, internal control evaluations, and client engagements across diverse industries.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze client accounting records and financial statements.
• Evaluate internal control systems, audit risk, materiality, and GAAS compliance.
• Prepare detailed workpapers to support audit procedures.
• Perform substantive testing and analytical procedures on financial data.
• Contribute to larger audit engagements and take ownership of smaller ones as you develop.
• Communicate with clients to gather information and clarify audit issues.
• Utilize audit software and data‑analytics tools to improve audit quality and efficiency.
• Complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the audit team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Prior internship experience at a public accounting firm.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with critical thinking skills.
• Team‑oriented mindset and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to work from one of Withum’s office locations.
• Preferred: 150 credit‑hour accounting program.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with audit software (data‑analytics tools a plus).
