ASV Operator – Field Testing of Autonomous Vessels

About the role
The ASV Operator will work primarily on‑site, conducting hands‑on testing of autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) on lakes and other outdoor environments during the 2nd shift (3:00 pm‑11:30 pm). You will collaborate closely with End‑of‑Line Technicians and the Engineering team to ensure vessel performance meets rigorous standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform field‑based testing of ASVs, evaluating performance under varying weather, water conditions, and obstacles.
- Define test parameters with engineering, troubleshoot issues on‑site, and verify autonomous navigation, sensor integration, and reliability.
- Record, analyze, and report data on navigation accuracy, battery performance, sensor functionality, and decision‑making processes.
- Develop and maintain test protocols, produce comprehensive performance reports, and highlight areas for improvement.
- Identify and diagnose performance issues, coordinating with End‑of‑Line technicians for rapid resolution.
- Prepare and maintain support vessels and test equipment, ensuring readiness for each field operation.
- Enforce safety and environmental compliance during all testing activities.
- Provide direct feedback to engineering and design teams to drive product enhancements.
Required profile
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a marine environment.
- Proven experience in outdoor, field‑based testing of robotics, drones, autonomous systems, or marine vehicles.
- Ability to work independently on evenings and weekends as required.
