Associate General Counsel – Department of Community Affairs

About the role

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) seeks an Associate General Counsel to provide legal guidance across its programs and initiatives. This senior‑level position supports the agency’s mission to build strong, vibrant communities by ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and advise on legal issues affecting DCA‑administered programs, including affordable housing and economic development.
• Conduct legal analysis of policies, procedures, and contracts for regulatory compliance.
• Respond to Georgia Open Records Requests and manage procurement processes.
• Support Board resolutions and act as liaison with the Attorney General’s office on litigation matters.
• Develop and maintain internal contracts and procurement documentation.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership.
• Experience in government or public‑sector legal work, preferably in housing or economic development.
• Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
