Associate Counsel – Contracting (Legal)

About the role

Servier is a Boston‑based biopharmaceutical company seeking an Associate Counsel to provide business‑oriented contracting support across all U.S. functions. The role focuses on R&D‑related agreements and will draft, negotiate, and manage routine to moderately complex contracts while escalating higher‑risk matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide contracting legal support to R&D, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Finance, Procurement, IT and other corporate functions.
• Draft, review, negotiate and finalize a wide range of agreements, including CDAs, MSAs, clinical trial agreements, research collaborations, SaaS/IT licenses and data processing agreements.
• Identify legal, compliance, privacy, regulatory and IP risks and advise stakeholders on mitigation strategies.
• Monitor contract volume, turnaround times and report status to Senior Counsel, proposing process improvements.
• Collaborate with U.S. Legal, Privacy, Ethics, Compliance, Procurement, Finance and Global Legal teams on shared matters.

Required profile

• JD or LLM from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction (Massachusetts in‑house registration preferred).
• 4‑7+ years of relevant experience in biopharma, biotech or life‑sciences contracting, with a strong track record of drafting and negotiating diverse agreements.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to business audiences.
• Proven ability to manage a high volume of contracts, set priorities, meet competing deadlines and deliver results efficiently.
• Experience at a top‑tier law firm in life‑sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech or digital health is a plus.
