Assistant Teacher for Early Childhood Education Center

About the role

The Children’s Early Care and Education Center at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest seeks an Assistant Teacher to support a STAR-4 early childhood program serving children from 6 weeks to 5 years. The role assists in delivering a developmentally appropriate curriculum and ensures a safe, nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Help implement curriculum that promotes physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and engaging classroom while following all policies and regulations.
• Assist in assessing each child’s progress and help set developmental goals.
• Communicate regularly with parents and co‑teachers about children’s social, linguistic, and cultural diversity.
• Encourage positive behavior and healthy habits through daily interactions and guidance.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience caring for and developing children.
• First Aid Certificate (American Heart Association) and Basic Life Support (AHA) upon hire.

Required skills

• Knowledge of early childhood development and curriculum implementation.
• Ability to maintain a safe, clean classroom environment.
• Effective communication with families and team members.
