Assistant Store Manager (Training)

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring Assistant Store Managers in Training for its store in Alexander City, Alabama. Trainees learn the responsibilities of Assistant Store Manager, Operations Assistant Store Manager, Night Operations Assistant Store Manager and Specialty Assistant Store Manager, supporting the Store Manager in building strategies and objectives for store sales and profitability through leadership and communication with Associates.

Key responsibilities

• Customer service: supervise Associates in selling, keep the store stocked and tidy, handle staffing and scheduling, resolve stock shortages, customer issues and service needs for installed sales and product sales.
• Supervise Associates: interview, hire, motivate, coach, train and develop them, and run performance reviews and disciplinary processes.
• Operations: oversee front-end sales and returns, special services and lot support, back-end receiving and freight, equipment and systems, daily finances and store SOPs, especially safety compliance.
• Merchandise planning: analyse sales trends to drive department profitability, plan merchandise placement with Store Managers, Field Merchandising and MET Teams, and support stock integrity through inventory management.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED; 3 years of work experience preferred.
• Reports to the Store Manager, with gradual supervision of Associates after training.
• Travel of less than 10% overnight; mostly sits, with occasional lifting of light items, in an indoor setting.
