Assistant Store Manager In Training

About the role

The Home Depot offers Assistant Store Managers in Training at its Grafton store. Trainees learn the responsibilities of Assistant Store Manager, Operations Assistant Store Manager, Night Operations Assistant Store Manager and Specialty Assistant Store Manager, supporting the Store Manager in building strategies and objectives for store sales and profitability through leadership and communication with Associates.

Key responsibilities

• Customer service initiatives: supervise Associates in selling, keep the store stocked and well presented, handle staffing and scheduling, resolve stock shortages, deal with customer issues and support service needs for installed sales and product sales.
• Supervise store Associates: interview, hire, motivate, coach, train and develop them, and run performance reviews and the disciplinary process.
• Operations management: oversee front-end sales and returns, special services and lot support, back-end receiving and freight, store equipment and systems, daily finances and safety SOPs.
• Merchandise planning: analyze sales trends to drive department profitability, plan merchandise placement and signing with Store Managers, Field Merchandising and MET Teams, and support stock integrity through inventory management.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED; 3 years of work experience preferred.
• Reports to the Store Manager, with gradual supervision of Associates after training.
• Travel of less than 10% overnight; mostly sits, with occasional lifting of light items, in an indoor setting.
