Assistant Professor – Research Track

About the role

The position focuses on computational cancer genomics, systems biology and data‑driven precision oncology within the Department of Medicine’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Reporting to the Chief of the Division of Hematology, the faculty member will collaborate with the lymphoma group on tumor immune microenvironment analysis, hematologic malignancies, cancer immunotherapy, CAR‑T cell biology and multi‑omics machine‑learning approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent, externally funded research program in computational cancer biology.
• Create computational tools and analytical frameworks for multi‑omics data interpretation.
• Collaborate with clinical and laboratory investigators to translate computational findings into actionable clinical insights.
• Supervise and mentor postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and research interns.
• Write and submit scientific manuscripts, abstracts and grant proposals, and present findings at conferences.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, biophysics or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in running a research lab, securing funding and supervising post‑doctoral researchers or graduate students.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with a record of peer‑reviewed publications.
• Proven ability to develop collaborative research projects and to obtain extramural funding.
