About the role

The Department of Economics at John Jay College of Criminal Justice seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2027. The appointment is focused on teaching, research, and service within a diverse, multicultural academic environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate economics courses, including course coordination.
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Develop and revise curricula that reflect pluralistic and inclusive perspectives.
  • Maintain an active research agenda and pursue scholarly publications.
  • Contribute to departmental culture through collaboration, community service, and leadership.

Required profile

  • Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the college level.
  • Potential for scholarly productivity and publication.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with encouragement for candidates from under‑represented groups.
  • Enthusiasm for working with students from varied backgrounds.
