Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology – Transplant

About the role

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor to join the abdominal transplant anesthesia team. The position involves adult liver and combined kidney/pancreas transplantation, as well as general OR cases.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia for deceased and living donor liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants.
• Cover general operating room cases such as orthopedics, gynecology, abdominal, vascular, and community obstetrics.
• Supervise residents, CRNAs, and SRNAs and serve as a primary anesthesiologist when needed.
• Participate in academic activities, teaching, mentoring, and departmental meetings.
• Fulfill transplant call coverage, including unscheduled cases during nights and weekends.

Required profile

• Completed US‑approved residency in Anesthesiology (or equivalent) with board eligibility or certification.
• Fellowship training in transplant anesthesiology is strongly desired.
• Experience managing end‑stage liver disease, massive transfusion, viscoelastic testing, large‑bore vascular access, and veno‑venous bypass.
• Familiarity with intra‑operative TEE and point‑of‑care ultrasound is desirable.
