About the role
The School of Journalism and Strategic Media at the University of Arkansas seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor who will also serve as Associate Director of the Center for Media Ethics and Literacy. The position blends scholarly research, public engagement, and innovative teaching in media ethics, literacy, and democratic practice.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and administration for the Center, overseeing its programs and initiatives.
- Conduct high‑impact research on media ethics, news literacy, civic engagement, and democratic practices, and secure external funding.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses using innovative media‑literacy pedagogy and mentor students.
- Engage the public and industry professionals through the Center’s website, social media, and public‑facing events.
Required profile
- Terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated record of exceptional teaching and mentorship at the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity and a clear vision for research in media ethics and literacy.
- Professional experience in journalism or reporting with strong knowledge of media‑industry ethical standards.
