About the role
The Department of History at the University of Maryland, College Park seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor specializing in 20th‑century U.S. women and gender history. The successful candidate will join a vibrant faculty team, contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, and advance the department’s research profile.
Key responsibilities
- Teach a core survey course on U.S. women’s history (modern era 1880‑2000).
- Develop and deliver additional lecture courses and upper‑level seminars aligned with research interests.
- Engage in curriculum development and departmental service.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and professional development.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in History or a closely related field, completed by August 1 2027.
- Demonstrated expertise in U.S. women’s history and a strong research agenda.
- Prior college‑level teaching experience with a record of effective instruction.
- Commitment to the College of Arts and Humanities’ strategic pillars, including equity and inclusive scholarship.
