Assistant Production Manager – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Assistant Production Manager supports day‑to‑day operations at a U.S. manufacturing facility that builds precision aluminum cabinet systems for garages, trailers, and specialty vehicles. Working closely with the Shop Foreman, this role ensures production teams operate efficiently, safely, and in line with schedule commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Shop Foreman in overseeing daily manufacturing and assembly activities.
• Conduct routine shop‑floor walkthroughs to monitor productivity, workflow, and adherence to schedules.
• Identify and escalate operational issues that could affect throughput or quality.
• Coordinate production schedules across fabrication, assembly, and finishing departments to balance workflow and avoid bottlenecks.
• Track job progress, manage work‑order flow, and communicate schedule adjustments to teams.
• Monitor inventory levels, coordinate material readiness with purchasing, and flag potential shortages.
• Support quality and safety initiatives, reinforcing protocols and assisting with corrective actions.
• Collect and report production metrics, highlighting trends and performance insights for leadership.

Required profile

• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with metal fabrication or cabinet production.
• Ability to work hands‑on on the shop floor while handling administrative coordination.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Effective communication skills to bridge shop leadership and production personnel.

Required skills

• Knowledge of manufacturing workflow and inventory management.
