Assistant Nurse Manager – Digestive Disease

About the role

The Assistant Nurse Manager will support the Nurse Manager of the H71 Digestive Disease General Surgery Unit on the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. Working nights, you will help supervise clinical operations, ensure high‑quality patient care, and gain valuable leadership experience in a world‑class surgical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations, including patient care and staff scheduling.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among caregivers, other departments, and external units.
• Conduct clinical evaluations, counsel staff on performance, and manage attendance and corrective actions.
• Interview, select, orient, and mentor new caregivers while monitoring EEO/AAP compliance.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects, research initiatives, and in‑service education.
• Assume full Nurse Manager responsibilities during their absence.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a BSN.
• Current state RN licensure and at least two years of recent clinical nursing experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (by hire or within one year).
• Strong clinical knowledge, especially in Med/Surg and digestive disease surgery.
