Assistant Hitting Coach

About the role

The Boston Red Sox Player Development department is looking for an Assistant Hitting Coach to work closely with the Hitting Coach, the Director of Hitting Development and other staff to implement and track player-specific offensive development plans. It is a hands-on, uniformed position supporting daily operations aimed at improving player performance. The role is based in Fort Myers, Florida during Minor League Spring Training, then at an assigned minor-league affiliate for the competitive season, starting in February 2027 and running through September 2027. Travel to all away games is required, and occasional travel to other affiliates, staff events and educational opportunities may be needed.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Hitting Coach and Roving Hitting Instructor in creating and executing daily hitting practice plans.
• Coordinate daily schedules with the Hitting Coach to make efficient use of time.
• Help prepare and deliver advanced reports and game plans to hitters.
• Operate hitting analysis tools such as Blast Motion, HitTrax, Trajekt and internal software.
• Support the hitting portion of Player Performance Meetings, tracking and reporting on hitters' goal progress.
• Maintain communication with the Hitting Development team to streamline transitions for players promoted or demoted.

Required profile

• Organized, detail-oriented, curious and data-driven, with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, working closely with players, coaches and other departments.
• Able to evaluate and prescribe drills that address each player's deficiencies and build trust and player buy-in.
• Able to turn large amounts of data into actionable takeaways for each player.
