Assistant Director of Purchasing

About the role

The Technical College System of Georgia is seeking an Assistant Director of Purchasing to support the Director in managing procurement activities for the system office and 22 technical colleges. This full‑time, onsite position ensures purchasing processes are fair, competitive, and compliant with state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct purchasing activities for the system office and 22 colleges.
• Ensure compliance with TCSG policies, DOAS purchasing rules, and applicable federal regulations.
• Coordinate competitive solicitations (RFQs, ITBs, RFPs) and develop, award, and manage contracts.
• Review and approve purchase requisitions, orders, and contract documents for accuracy.
• Assist with contract development, negotiation, administration, and renewals.
• Support audits by maintaining accurate procurement records.
• Prepare and submit reports to meet state purchasing guidelines.
• Monitor staff activities for policy compliance and provide training on procurement best practices.
• Resolve vendor disputes in alignment with DOAS regulations.
• Maintain effective relationships with internal departments and external vendors.

Required profile

• Full‑time availability and ability to work onsite at the Atlanta office.
• Experience in public‑sector procurement and contract management.
• Knowledge of state purchasing rules and federal procurement regulations.
