Assistant Director, Engineering & Operations

About the role

The Assistant Director, Engineering & Operations will support the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences by overseeing engineering projects, facility operations, and maintenance activities. This senior staff position reports to senior leadership and ensures that engineering services align with the institution’s mission of patient care, research, and education.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate engineering projects, including planning, budgeting, and execution.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations of facilities, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with clinical, research, and administrative teams to prioritize operational needs.
• Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standards for engineering services.
• Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and performance metrics.
• Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership on operational performance.

Required profile

• Relevant advanced degree or extensive experience in engineering or facilities management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a complex, multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and safety standards applicable to medical facilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
