Boiler Operator

About the role

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of boiler systems that provide heating and steam to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences campus. This position supports the Facilities department in maintaining continuous plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor boiler performance, pressures, temperatures, and fuel consumption.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on boiler equipment.
• Respond promptly to alarms, troubleshoot issues, and restore normal operation.
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and compliance documentation.
• Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with the Facilities team and external service providers as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Experience operating industrial or campus boiler systems.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to emergencies.
• Valid legal authority to work in the United States.

Required skills

• Operation of boiler equipment and control panels.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance.
