Assistant Director – Academic Programs

About the role

The Assistant Director of Academic Programs leads the strategic growth and enhancement of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering’s graduate offerings. This hybrid position works closely with faculty committees, graduate students, and the Graduate School to ensure high‑quality education and smooth program operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage graduate admissions processes, data, and recruitment activities for MS, PlusOne, and PhD programs.
• Oversee course scheduling each term and maintain the department’s five‑year teaching plan.
• Coordinate orientation, welcome events, Graduate Candidates Day, and other onboarding activities.
• Track PhD milestones (qualifying exams, proposals, defenses) and serve as primary contact for student‑related inquiries.
• Develop and administer new MS programs, combined majors, minors, and research concentrations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum four years of experience supporting academic or administrative projects in higher education or a similar environment.
• Strong project‑management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work collaboratively with diverse constituencies.
