Assistant Athletic Trainer - Baseball Sports Medicine

About the role
The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the head team physician and the Director of Athletic Training in delivering day‑to‑day sports medicine services for the baseball program. You will collaborate with strength and conditioning, nutrition, and mental health staff while handling a range of clinical and administrative duties.
Key responsibilities
- Prevent, evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate injuries for student‑athletes.
- Conduct pre‑participation physicals and maintain accurate medical records.
- Submit insurance claims and required medical documentation.
- Communicate daily with coaches, physicians, resident trainers, and university administration.
- Attend practices, cover games, travel for away contests, and manage injury tracking and analysis.
- Schedule appointments, oversee student workers, and mentor students in training.
- Develop and manage injury‑prevention programming.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum two years of experience as a certified athletic trainer in a collegiate or professional sports setting.
- Current BOC certification, CPR/AED certification, and Maryland athletic trainer licensure (or eligibility).
- Knowledge of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant policies, regulations, and laws.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
