APRN Oncology

About the role

Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute is hiring an APRN Oncology practitioner to assist the physician in the care and teaching of patients. The position is based in the oncology clinic, with a pay range of $92,500 to $152,875.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health history, physical examination and diagnostic studies.
• Write prescriptions for medications and blood products according to written practice protocols, and interpret study and test results.
• Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials and relay patient-care information to the collaborating physician.
• Administer therapeutic measures, obtain specimens, and triage patients to judge the urgency of physician evaluation.
• Dictate follow-up letters summarizing treatment, response and plan, and write patient history, admission, progress and discharge notes.
• Take part in daily multidisciplinary rounds, provide on-call coverage and hospital rounds, and assist staff in crises or emergencies.
• Meet with the public outside the institution to promote cancer treatment, train new employees, and comply with patient-privacy laws and company policies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant program with a Master's degree.
• APRN or PA license in the appropriate state, prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply, and current ANCC or ONS (AOCN-P) certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an APRN or PA, specifically in oncology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Willingness to work at any company location and to work overtime when given sufficient notice.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, time management and organization.
• Good command of English; second language is an asset.
