Application Support Analyst - SRE

About the role

Barclays is hiring an Application Support Analyst - SRE in Whippany, New Jersey and New York, New York, within the Markets pre-trade area. The role provides production support and application management for Synthetics SWAP Trading and related applications, ensuring system availability, stability and accuracy. It acts as the primary escalation point for issues affecting Front Office trading operations, takes part in crisis management and works with Business, Development, Infrastructure, Operations and vendors to support production changes and resolve incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Provide production support and application management for Synthetics SWAP Trading and related applications
• Act as the first escalation point for issues impacting Front Office trading operations
• Participate in crisis management and support production changes and incident resolution
• Collaborate with Business, Development, Infrastructure, Operations and vendors to minimise business disruption
• Investigate trading and settlement-related queries, including trade processing, pricing, accruals, rates and costs
• Monitor, optimise and tune application performance, identify bottlenecks and improve system reliability

Required profile

• Knowledge of Unix, Linux and Windows operating systems
• Experience with SQL Server, including SQL and PL/SQL development and support
• Experience with ITRS Geneos, Autosys, PGP encryption/decryption and platforms such as aPaaS, OpenShift and Kafka
• Understanding of trading applications and business processes, preferably in Prime Services, with experience in a financial services environment
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and analytical troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with ITIL principles and best practices

Required skills

• Shell/Perl scripting and PowerShell
• Working knowledge of Java and middleware technologies
• Valued: reading and analysing code, Python and SQL for application support and database investigations
• Valued: experience monitoring, tuning and optimising application performance

What we offer

• Base salary of $75,000 to $125,000 depending on location
