Application Engineer – Medium Voltage Cable

About the role

The Application Engineer will act as the technical liaison between 3M’s medium‑voltage cable accessories division and its end‑users worldwide. You will leverage product knowledge, standards expertise, and a collaborative mindset to drive adoption and support new product launches.

Key responsibilities

• Represent 3M’s products to customers, interpreting electrical requirements and ensuring standards compliance.
• Build and maintain a global network of engineers, scientists, and external partners to influence application development.
• Partner with product development and business teams to validate customer needs, conduct performance testing, and create technical collateral.
• Lead technical interactions, deliver presentations, and provide field training on product applications.
• Travel up to 25% domestically or internationally as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Electrical Engineering preferred) from an accredited institution.
• Experience with medium‑voltage cable accessories in private, public, government, or military settings.
• Background as an Application Engineer or in a customer‑facing technical role.
• Understanding of medium‑voltage cable theory, IEEE and IEC standards, and ability to develop innovative solutions.
• Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
