AI Solutions Engineer (Top Secret Clearance)

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced AI Solutions Engineer with an active United States Government Top Secret security clearance to join its team in Chantilly, Virginia. The engineer leads the development and implementation of an AI application that strengthens the facility's operation and maintenance preventive maintenance (PM) program. The role is on-site, collaborative and mission-critical.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement AI-powered applications for facilities operation and maintenance preventive maintenance programs.
• Analyze workflows to find opportunities for AI-driven improvements, especially predictive maintenance.
• Build, train and deploy machine learning models that analyze equipment data, detect anomalies and forecast failures.
• Work with engineers, facilities managers and IT professionals to align AI solutions with business objectives.
• Generate insights using data modeling, predictive analytics and statistical techniques.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity protocols, privacy regulations and security clearance requirements.
• Test and validate AI models regularly for accuracy and reliability.
• Lead on-site sessions providing guidance, training and technical support to stakeholders.
• Stay current on AI trends in predictive maintenance and facilities operations, and document AI systems with reports and presentations.

Required profile

• Active United States Government Top Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, AI, data science, engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of software/AI delivery and 2+ years of applied AI/ML or LLM systems.
• Proven experience building predictive maintenance AI solutions and on-site work in secure environments.
• Availability to work on-site 3-5 days per week in a secure, classified setting.

Required skills

• Python, R or Java with AI and machine learning libraries.
• Data preprocessing, feature engineering and model development.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for AI deployment; IoT or sensor data integration is a strong plus.
• Preferred: IBM Maximo, air-gapped/local model deployment, EAM/CMMS, human-in-the-loop workflows, Scrum or Agile certifications.
