AI Software Engineer – Hybrid (Lake Forest)

About the role

AVEVA is looking for passionate AI Software Engineers to join its Core AI Services team. In this hybrid role you will design, develop and scale cloud‑native AI platform services and public APIs that become the foundation for AI adoption across AVEVA’s product portfolio and partner ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multiple teams to create AI solutions, including model deployment, training, and tooling development.
• Build scalable, fault‑tolerant services on Microsoft Azure that meet high‑performance and reliability standards.
• Develop secure, well‑documented public APIs and SDKs for internal and external developers.
• Deliver end‑to‑end solutions across data pipelines, orchestration, and service APIs.
• Embed robust security controls to protect sensitive data and ensure secure access to AI services.

Required profile

• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and an understanding of performance, cost and capability trade‑offs.
• Knowledge of Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration, prompt engineering and tool calling.
• Familiarity with AI standards such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A).
• Proficiency in using AI tools like GitHub Copilot and applying prompt engineering in development tasks.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical challenges and propose scalable solutions.
