Afterschool (Preschool) Teacher

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking enthusiastic Part‑Time After‑School Preschool Teachers for locations across Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Hyde Park, West Roxbury, and Brighton. Under the Site Director’s guidance, you will create a supportive, engaging environment that meets the educational and recreational needs of young learners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement age‑appropriate activities and lesson plans aligned with Massachusetts Early Education and Care (EEC) standards.
• Maintain a nurturing classroom, manage behavior, and ensure safety and smooth transitions.
• Provide individualized support to encourage active participation in after‑school activities.
• Communicate regularly with families about child progress and address concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with staff, attend meetings, and complete required training and compliance documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field preferred.
• Eligibility for Massachusetts EEC certification (active certification preferred).
• Prior experience with young children, especially in after‑school or preschool settings.
• Ability to pass background checks and provide proof of vaccinations and health screenings.
