Advocacy Counselor for Youth Housing

About the role

The Advocacy Counselor provides intensive, housing‑focused case management for transitional aged youth (18‑24) in the Pathways program. You will help youth develop skills, remove barriers, and achieve stable housing, education, and employment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of up to 15 youth, creating individualized case plans for education, employment, wellbeing, and housing.
• Provide life‑skills training, link youth to community resources, and coordinate weekly coaching sessions.
• Conduct assessments, motivational interviewing, and harm‑reduction approaches to address mental health, substance use, and high‑risk behaviors.
• Lead care‑coordination meetings, monitor site safety, and facilitate apartment readiness and move‑in/out processes.
• Facilitate monthly workshops and community‑building activities to promote self‑sufficiency.

Required profile

• Experience in case management with a trauma‑informed, harm‑reduction, and social‑justice approach.
• Strong ability to build rapport, de‑escalate conflict, and provide crisis intervention.
