Advanced RN Practitioner – ENT/Head & Neck

About the role

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides comprehensive medical care to ENT and head‑and‑neck patients at the University of Miami Health System. The role involves independent assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and collaboration with multidisciplinary surgical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct age‑appropriate histories, physical examinations and document findings in Epic/UChart.
• Order, interpret and act on diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments and manage medication regimens.
• Participate in patient rounds with surgical specialties and develop peri‑operative care plans.
• Provide wound, drain, tracheostomy, feeding tube and line care education to patients, families and staff.
• Facilitate admissions, transfers, discharges and ensure smooth transitions between care settings.
• Contribute to quality‑control initiatives and documentation to support case‑mix index reporting.
• Collaborate with physician leaders and attend data‑analytics meetings to improve institutional efficiency.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant nursing field.
• Valid State of Florida APRN license.
• No prior experience required – entry‑level candidates welcome.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Epic and UChart electronic medical record systems.
• Technical ability to order and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Prescribing authority and knowledge of pharmacologic therapies.
