Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - Oncology

About the role

aoncology is hiring an APRN to assist the physician in the care and teaching of patients. The role covers assessment, prescribing, documentation, clinical trial eligibility and multidisciplinary rounds, with on-call coverage and travel to other locations as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health history, physical exam and diagnostic studies.
• Write prescriptions for medications and blood products according to written practice protocols.
• Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials and interpret study results.
• Administer therapeutic measures, obtain specimens and triage patients to assess urgency of physician evaluation.
• Dictate follow-up letters and write patient history, admission, progress and discharge notes.
• Take part in daily multidisciplinary rounds and provide on-call coverage and hospital rounds.
• Document care accurately and on time, maintain patient confidentiality under HIPAA, and assist in training new employees.
• Market cancer treatment to the public and comply with federal and state laws and company policies.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant program with a Master's degree.
• APRN or PA license in the appropriate state and prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply.
• Current ANCC or ONS (AOCN-P) certification and current BLS.
• At least 5 years of experience as an APRN or PA, specifically in oncology.
• Willingness to work at any company location and overtime with sufficient notice; travel less than 25%.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Critical thinking, problem solving, decision making and time management.
• Good command of English; second language is an asset.
