Advance Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Inpatient Intestine Transplant

About the role

The Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic is seeking a full‑time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Center for Gut Rehabilitation and Transplantation. This non‑surgical position provides inpatient (and occasional outpatient) care for adult and pediatric intestine transplant patients.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain thorough medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order/interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
• Collaborate with transplant surgeons and multidisciplinary team members during rounds and care planning.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within scope of licensure and Cleveland Clinic policies.
• Educate patients and families about disease processes, treatments, and medication side effects.
• Participate in quality monitoring, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance.
• May serve as clinical preceptor, assist with research data collection, and support professional development of staff.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (or RN) in the applicable state(s).
• MSN degree required upon hire or within three years for external hires.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently in a high‑stress environment and make decisive clinical judgments.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as required by work setting.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification where applicable.
• Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
