Adult Education Administrative Intern (Unpaid)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an unpaid Adult Education Administrative Intern to support its Adult Education English language program. This hybrid role combines in‑person and remote work, offering hands‑on experience with case management for newly arrived refugees and immigrants.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Case Manager with a caseload of up to 128 adult education students.
• Conduct one‑on‑one meetings to set SMART employment or education goals and create Career Zone accounts.
• Help clients develop resumes, cover letters, and prepare for interviews.
• Track client meetings, progress, and case notes using spreadsheets.
• Research and document referral opportunities in NYC.
• Communicate with clients in person and by phone while adhering to confidentiality policies.

Required profile

• Based in the United States.
• Ability to work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying English proficiency.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to IRC’s mission and policies on client privacy.
