Admissions Counselor II

About the role

The Admissions Counselor II works under general supervision to identify, recruit, and increase the enrollment of admitted and underrepresented students at Texas A&M University‑San Antonio. The position also mentors prospective students, coordinates travel schedules for recruitment activities, and develops targeted recruiting plans.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, recruit, and contribute to growth of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented student populations.
• Develop and implement effective recruiting plans for assigned schools and areas.
• Coordinate with high‑school counselors to facilitate the application process and track targeted students and parents.
• Advise prospective students on admissions status, policies, and programs, and resolve appeals or complaints.
• Conduct on‑ and off‑campus public speaking, maintain related records, and disseminate admissions information.
• Review applications, assist in third‑review processes, and generate reports on programs and projects.
• Plan and coordinate events, including accommodations, itineraries, meals, and speakers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• At least one year of related experience.
• Knowledge of admissions functions in higher education.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
