Accounting Technician – Full Time

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Accounting Technician to join its Accounts Payable team. This full‑time position supports the processing of invoices, vendor payments, and related financial transactions while ensuring compliance with GAAP and governmental accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze invoices and source documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Distribute supplier checks and process payments.
• Enter routine financial transactions into the GA@Work accounting system.
• Verify daily entries and reconcile accounting records.
• Reconcile purchase orders each month and maintain hard‑copy filing systems.
• Provide information and assistance to internal and external customers.
• Perform limited clerical duties and support mail handling as needed.

Required profile

• Knowledge of accounts payable processes and government accounting standards.
• Understanding of GAAP and state/federal fiscal policies.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a professional office environment and handle occasional physical tasks.
