Accountant – Technology Controllership

About the role

The Accountant, Technology Controllership will join Mastercard’s Technology Controllers team to ensure accurate financial reporting for technology spend. You will work closely with Global Business Services, Finance/FP&A and other stakeholders to support month‑end close, audit readiness and compliance with corporate policies and US GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and review technology‑related balances, reconciliations, journal entries and capital project documentation during month‑end close.
• Support procure‑to‑pay, capital governance and accounting operations, including intake validation, OPEX vs CAPEX analysis, capitalization review and depreciation monitoring.
• Analyze technology contracts, cloud/SaaS implementation costs, software licensing and related transactions, documenting accounting considerations and escalating complex judgments.
• Prepare monthly financial results, respond to inquiries, and contribute to business cases, models and ad‑hoc reporting.
• Identify process gaps and drive improvements using data analytics, AI and automation to enhance efficiency and control.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional experience with US GAAP, SEC reporting and SOX/internal controls.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Understanding of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
• Experience with financial analysis, month‑end close and audit documentation.
