Accountant – Nonprofit & Grant Administration (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant with experience in nonprofit finance and grant administration to support core financial operations on a contract basis in Dallas, Texas. The role focuses on day‑to‑day accounting activities, accurate record‑keeping, and reliable financial reporting within a structured business environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage invoice processing, payment scheduling, and vendor follow‑up to keep accounts payable current.
• Oversee receivables by recording payments, tracking balances, and resolving billing discrepancies.
• Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation to maintain general ledger integrity.
• Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Support month‑end and periodic close activities, reviewing account balances for accuracy.
• Maintain grant‑related accounting records, tracking expenditures against funding requirements.
• Assist with grant administration by organizing financial documentation and supporting reporting needs.
• Review transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in accounting roles handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger support.
• Working knowledge of journal entry preparation, account analysis, and bank reconciliation processes.
• Experience with grant accounting and managing restricted funding.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a contract environment.
• Clear communication skills for coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders.
