About the role
The Manager, Academic Business supports the Dean of the College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies by overseeing all business functions of the Centralized College Academic Business HUB. Reporting to the AVP for Finance and Compliance Officer, this role ensures budget, accounting, purchasing, payroll, and travel processes align with university policies.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and train academic department business personnel on procurement, contracts, travel, and compliance procedures.
- Manage departmental budgets, accounting, and financial reporting, and recommend actions to the CFO.
- Oversee payroll, personnel actions, leave requests, and ensure business continuity for the HUB.
- Provide primary business support to the Associate VP for Academic Operations and the Executive Associate Dean.
- Collaborate with the Office of Budgets and Finance on quarterly business operations meetings and policy implementation.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- At least five years of experience in business, accounting, or personnel operations, including two years of supervisory experience.
- Experience with Texas A&M University and system financial and HR software, policies, and procedures.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office applications, and Excel.
- Experience using Canopy, FAMIS, Aggiebuy, iPay, Workday, and Concur.
- FEMA Incident Command Team certification.
