Academic Advisor II – Student Success & Retention

About the role

We are seeking an Academic Advisor II who, with minimal assistance, drives engagement and empowers students to achieve their academic and career goals. The role is critical for maximizing undergraduate retention by building relationships, clarifying procedures, and guiding students through program requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Advise students on course selection, registration, add/drop, withdrawals, curriculum changes, and degree progress, while maintaining accurate advising records.
• Deliver student success and retention strategies through proactive outreach, resource referrals, monitoring academic progress, and organizing advising events and campaigns.
• Support team building by training new staff and student workers and participating in departmental initiatives.
• Complete up to 10% annual training and development, including onboarding, master advising certification, and participation in professional meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of academic advising or related experience.
• Knowledge of NACADA core values, academic advising models, curriculum requirements, and campus resources that support student success.
• Ability to multi‑task, work cooperatively, and communicate confidentially with students and partners.
• Proficiency in using academic advising technologies and generating reports for advising initiatives.
