3rd Shift Inspector of Tooling and Machined Parts

About the role

Moog is seeking a 3rd Shift Inspector to ensure the quality of tooling and machined parts in its Blacksburg, VA facility. You will work with complex drawings and advanced measurement equipment to verify precision components for aerospace and defense applications.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret complex drawings and perform inspections of machined parts with compound angles and three‑dimensional features.
• Conduct first‑article inspections on machined, molded, and capsule hardware as well as tooling.
• Write, certify, and execute programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and Optical Vision Systems.
• Operate CMM Optical Vision Systems at an advanced level and assist in training others.
• Measure parts directly on machine shop equipment and maintain gauging setups (gage blocks, electronic height gauge).
• Complete inspection documentation, including non‑conforming material reports.
• Collaborate with shop personnel, production operators, coaches, and managers.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned, including overtime.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED preferred; ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Completion of a vocational program in Machine Technology (or equivalent) with at least one year of training.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to lift 50 lb.
• Proficiency in general math (fractions, decimals, simple formulas).
• Knowledge of blueprint reading and geometric tolerances.
